Question 4

What is a vector?

Accepted Answer

A vector file is a type of computer graphic that is based on mathematical expressions to represent images. Unlike raster graphics, which are made up of pixels and can lose quality when scaled, vector graphics use mathematical equations to define shapes, lines, and colors. This allows vector files to be resized and scaled without losing quality, making them ideal for tasks such as logo design, illustration, and printing. Common vector file formats include: SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics): An XML-based file format for describing vector graphics. SVG files are widely used for web graphics and can be edited with a text editor or vector graphics software. AI (Adobe Illustrator): This is a proprietary file format associated with Adobe Illustrator, a popular vector graphics editor. AI files may contain both vector and raster data. EPS (Encapsulated PostScript): EPS is a file format that can contain both vector and bitmap graphics. It is often used for high-quality printing and is supported by many graphic design applications. PDF (Portable Document Format): PDF files can contain both vector and raster graphics, making them versatile for various purposes, including document sharing and printing. CDR (CorelDRAW): This is a file format associated with CorelDRAW, another vector graphics editor. CDR files can contain vector graphics, bitmap images, and text. Vector files are commonly created and edited using vector graphics software like Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, or Affinity Designer. They are suitable for tasks where scalability and resolution independence are crucial, such as in the creation of logos, icons, and illustrations.

Question 5

What is laser cutting?

Accepted Answer

Laser cutting is a precise technology using high-powered lasers to cut materials like metal, plastic, wood, and more. The process involves creating a design with CAD software, preparing the material, calibrating the laser, and then cutting along the programmed path. The result is clean, intricate cuts with minimal waste, ideal for industries like manufacturing, signage, and aerospace.
